I’m very pleased to announce another string to my bow: PAT testing!
PAT testing is a long misunderstood thing. It stands for Portable Applicance Testing. It’s a myth that all you do is plug it into a machine and the machine tests it! There is an extensive visual inspection, as well as a series of tests to carry out on an appliance, or indeed a cable, or extension lead.
PAT Testing is not a legal requirement. But Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (amongst others) require, by law, that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition. How that’s done is not defined, but PAT testing is a very well-recognised way of maintaining equipment.
Different environments and different classes of equipment carry different recommended testing frequencies, but generally every year or 2 years is suggested. In principle, the more contact your equipment will have with the public, the more regularly you should have it tested.
Getting your equipment PAT tested by a competent tester is highly recommended, that’s where I come in!
I’m really pleased to present an introductory offer of £1 per item! This includes a register and log of all the applicances tested, pass/fail labels, and any recommendations from the testing process, or advice on electrical safety.
If you want to discuss this offer or opportunity with me, please get in touch!
Please note if you have any wider concerns about electrical safety of your building or equipment, please consult a qualified electrician.
